Wangaratta is a regional city in the Rural City of Wangaratta. Murphy Street forms the main road through the city, while the business district sits at the north-eastern edge of the urban area near the Ovens and King rivers. The Hume Freeway bypasses the city, and Wangaratta railway station carries passenger and freight services on the North East railway line.
