The Model Context Protocol is an open standard that lets AI assistants like Claude and ChatGPT securely connect to live data sources. Think of it as a USB-C port for AI: one connector, and your assistant can plug straight into MarketBuddy's live listing data.
Does MCP access cost extra?
No. It is included with every MarketBuddy plan at no extra cost, including the 14-day free trial.
Do I need a separate account or API key?
No. Your AI signs you in through the same MarketBuddy email and password, using OAuth 2.1. MarketBuddy never sees or stores your assistant's credentials, and no API key is needed for interactive use.
Which AI assistants work with it?
Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, OpenClaw and Hermes connect with the steps shown above, and any MCP-compatible client with HTTP transport and OAuth works with the same URL. Setup guides for Claude Code, VS Code, Microsoft Copilot Studio, Gemini CLI and more are in the docs.
What can my AI actually see?
The same live sale and lease listings you see in the app: search results, and full records for individual listings. It cannot touch your account or billing, contact agents, or see other customers' data.
How fresh is the data?
Listings are refreshed from source portals multiple times a day, the same feed the MarketBuddy app uses.
Can I use it from scripts or automated workflows?
Yes. Programmatic clients authenticate with a bearer API token instead of OAuth: request one through the support portal.
What are the limits?
Search covers on-market sale and lease listings in Australia; results are gated by the states your plan covers, and there is no off-market or private data. Radial search reaches up to 5 km. If your plan does not cover a state, your AI gets a clear upgrade message rather than partial data.
How do I disconnect?
Remove MarketBuddy from your assistant's connector settings. Access is revoked immediately and you can reconnect any time.
