Ipswich is the central business district of the City of Ipswich, about 31 kilometres from the Brisbane CBD. Brisbane Street and Limestone Street form the historic city centre, with substantial architectural, natural and cultural heritage around the Bremer River. Ipswich railway station is a major rail hub, and the city has direct access to the Ipswich, Cunningham, Warrego, Logan and Centenary highways.

Ipswich is a regional city centre, with office suites and floors and medical or consulting suites occupying the established civic and commercial core. Flinders View, Raceview and Bundamba are nearby markets.
