Gateshead

Gateshead is a suburb of the City of Lake Macquarie in Greater Newcastle, about 108 kilometres from the Sydney CBD. Pacific Highway is the main road through the suburb and its commercial setting. Gateshead lies on the eastern side of Lake Macquarie and contains schools and a private hospital.

The industrial and distribution precinct offers warehouses and factories, with shopfronts serving local trade and services. The market is anchored by a major highway corridor rather than a compact town centre. Bennetts Green, Charlestown and Warners Bay are nearby commercial comparisons.
