Chelsea is a coastal south-eastern Melbourne suburb in the City of Kingston, about 30 kilometres from the Melbourne CBD. Nepean Highway is the main road and commercial corridor, with The Strand and Beach forming part of the coastal local street setting. Chelsea's position on Port Phillip Bay gives the suburb a distinct coastal character within the metropolitan area.
