Atherton is a rural town and locality in the Tablelands Region. Main Street is the central trading street, with Evans Street and Tolga Road forming important local and regional connections. Atherton sits on the Atherton Tableland and serves an agricultural district growing crops including coffee, sugar cane, tea, peanuts, mangoes and macadamia nuts, with heritage places such as the Atherton Chinese Temple and Barron Valley Hotel.
